[...] Here is a little background on the site. I also found most of this on the about page, but let me sum it up for you. The Chicago Methods Reporter (hereafter “The CMR”) is a blog started by a group of graduate students at Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Illinois. The site actually has a neat system for paying money to it’s writers based on the amount of money their articles earn from ads. If you take a look at the list of writers for The CMR, you will find a large list of 30 writers. All of these writers are current or past graduate students of the Medill School of Journalism. The articles are pretty evenly spread among them, except for Brad Flora (who also happens to be the person that requested the review), with an outstanding 38 articles. I’m assuming that Brad is the creator of the site. I appreciate the fact that a group of students from this school of journalism were able to publish a decent site with their articles on it, without any actual affiliation to the school. I think it is time to look a little deeper into the actual content and layout of the site. [...]

Taryn,

I read your artical of June 6, 2007 on the expense of police pursuits.

We have a new tire spiking system that is "No Pursuit Policy"
compliant. This tire deflation device is deployed from the rear of the
patrol car, without the need to stop. At no time is the need for a
"pursuit" to take place.

When the need to stop a suspect is determined, the trailing officer needs
only to radio ahead for another unit to drop back in a non-emergency mode
and allow the target vehicle to come into range. The lead unit then
deploys the spike system and continues on out of harms way.

The tires of the target vehicle leaves the spikes harmless to the trailing
officers and the public by activating the unique patented
spike-decommissioning feature. This is the only tire spiking system that
can be used on a crowded hi-way in rush hour traffic and deflates the
tires of only one car.

I beleive this system can save lives. Please take a look at our website
www.mdstx.com to see a video showing the current system. In December, a
new version will be made available that expands to eight feet. If you
would email me with your view of the system after viewing, I would
appreciate it. If you would like, when the new video of the expanding
spike plate is produced, will send you a copy.

Thank you for your time,
